New Writing

Live Theatre is committed to helping writers to produce stage plays that are dynamic, compelling and ultimately theatrical. We offer support and advice to writers of all abilities, from first-time writers to successful playwrights, and run a series of events, courses and workshops for all aspiring writers.

Join Live Theatre’s Live Lab events and listen to some of the country’s leading playwrights talk about their work, be one of the first to watch a rehearsed reading of a new play or take in the first outing of a work in development piece in Scratch Night .

Alternatively why not enrol on an Become A Playwright Introductory Course or submit your play to the Theatre’s Literary Department all free of charge?
Live Theatre runs also runs a writers’ group dedicated to helping its members complete a one-act play. The two-hour workshops involve writing exercises, group discussion, as well as tips, tools and advice from the tutor, an experienced playwright.
